Your letter brought back so many memories of my own returns to school each September. I share your lifelong love of learning. And the blue bag is adorable!!!
My living room wall often makes me smile especially when the skies are grey outside. Imagine how I will feel when looking at the "cartable bleu" sitting right next to it! :-)
YOU are priceless and the blue bag is precious. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Your writing is fun to read and I can tell that it’s a joy and creative outlet for you. Merci beaucoup!
Always too kind Cindy, merci. You are right: I haven't enjoyed writing this much since my blogging days many years ago. Thank you Substack! Hope summer was a creative time for you. A bientôt
Merci Barbara. Pretty amazing, I agree. In the Happy Potter books the little bag could have been a "portkey" (a magical object that can take you to any place you want to visit.)
As a former student of your classes at BCC in Bellevue, WA I remember the fun I had during your lessons AND the increased enjoyment I experienced during my Paris adventure due to your helpful hints! My granddaughter will be traveling to Paris with her family in January and perhaps she will also find a new, precious bag
Ah! I really enjoyed this story of your adventures being a study-abroad student in America... so like my story, in reverse, of being a study-abroad student in France. I love the cartable bleu, too! My little au-pair family's boys back in 1981-82, had their cartables on their backs every day, too :)
Ah...memories! I'm with you...I must be a professional student as well and you're my favorite teacher! Looking forward to more on the story of the Rotary Club one day. Bonne la rentrée !
Ah, you are too kind Janet, thank you. I will tell the Rotary Club story one day (or maybe I will wait until I finally get to write "Le Book." ;-) Thank you for joining the fun today.
As a retired middle school teacher, I love Back to School! I still purchase and donate school supplies because I remember how much I loved La rentrée. Your story made me smile, and I’m right there with you, Véro! Serendipity!!!
Bonne rentrée!
Merci David. A vous aussi!

Happy to hear this Janet. I know I am not the only one out there who feels a bit nostalgic when "la Rentrée" comes around.
Gosh, what a wonderful story about the book bag. I’ll bet you will smile every time you see that blue bag in your home. ❤️❤️

Lovely story. Thank you for sharing.
Avec plaisir Karen.
I love your story and your new bag! 🥰
Merci my friend. My new bag rocks! Can't wait to show it off around my city when I get back from the last tour of the season.
Isn’t it amazing how a little item can evoke such treasured memories, and feelings, of your past! Love your new purse & your story, Vero.

Then you know exactly how I feel Judith and how special these study-abroad experiences can be. They change you for ever, often in a good way!

Happy to hear I am not the only one looking back at “La Rentrée” with nostalgia (and fondness) Merci Marcelle.
What's the metric system? 😂 Love your newsletters and really happy about your perfect find! Bonne rentrée !
Merci beaucoup Bob. Can’t wait to show off my new bag in Tours when I return home later this month. Thank you for stopping by! A bientôt.
