Great content. Fun practice reading French, with a translation to make sure I understood. And even a chance to practice pronunciation. Interesting pictures spaced in the text. Nice work! And thanks!
This lesson about pétanque was a treat, as I previously knew very little about it. I happily read, listened, learned new vocabulary, and was able to benefit from your knowledge and use of multiple learning styles. This format worked beautifully for me, and I’d love more lessons like this. From one teacher to another, merci!!
There will be more Marcelle whenever inspiration strikes. They may be behind a paywall but as a long-time patron (thank you!) you'll have access to new stories.
I know the basic pétanque lingo, but never really mastered the game despite a few tries at village events long ago. I loved seeing the test zone in the shop! I had never thought of that even existing...
That shop is a lot of fun Betty. They are very knowledgeable and love teaching about pétanque. When I was there earlier this week a gentleman used the test zone to try out a new ball (a gift from his wife.) As an experienced "tireur" he was very skilled. Everyone watched!
I was so pleased with myself because I understood the majority of the French text. However, I wish that I had listened to your reading of the text first. I truly need to force my ear to listen. Thank you so very much for all your effort. I know it’s a lot!
There is a large area where pétanque is played here in Nice. I have enjoyed going to watch. But more important, trying to listen to the conversations taking place.
Thank you, Véro, for this great article on pétanque. I remember your previous visit there and remember how much I enjoyed that, too. I appreciate this opportunity to practice French. Thank you for taking the time to add the audio and a translation to help as well. Hope you are having a lovely trip!
Glad to hear you tagged along last time I was in Marseille too! I am enjoying this trip, thank you. I can take the time to explore (and share some of my discoveries with my online community.) Staying in an apartment in a great neighborhood and feeling very much like a "temporary local" by now. A bientôt.
It’s hard to believe the last time you recorded your visit to Marseille was 4 years ago! So glad you can take the time to enjoy your trip and like the neighborhood you’re staying in. Thank you for sharing your discoveries with us. ❤️ It’s the next best thing to being there myself.
Yes, time flies, doesn’t it? Things were so different then, and a third lockdown had not even happened when I stayed in town! Thank you for the continued support and encouragement. It’s very much appreciated.
Yes, it does! Thank you, Véro, for braving all kinds of weather to record live. Your videos and posts truly saved me during that difficult time. Seeing you and your posts is always like seeing an old friend. Thank you for continuing to share your adventures throughout France! ❤️
Je l'ai fait quand j'etudais en Aix en Provence...2012....et je mai souviens le fun et la rire....Peut-etre j'ai fait "un fanny"...lol Merci Véro por les souvieners!
Ah, the pic of Ricard brought back good memories. Although I normally drank Pernod.
They are part of the same group now, the Pernod Ricard empire!
So fun! I learned so much about pétanque. Merci, Vero!
Avec plaisir Bonnie. Now go and invest in a "triplette" tout de suite!
Loved learning about petanque..all 3 ways.., French words, English words and the audio pronunciation! 👏 Merci Vero...
Excellent. Happy you enjoyed this.

J'adore.
Très amusant et instructif. Merci bien !
Avec plaisir Susan.
As always, I learn from you with each email or you tube! Thanks for sharing with us always!!!!
You are welcome Jeanie. The next one may be behind a paywall but that's ok because you have been a patron for a long time. Thank you!

And thank you Bonita for supporting France with Vero since 2020.

Always a "plaisir" Vero! Merci beaucoup for all your lessons and opportunities to learn.
Merci Sharyn.
Absolutely loved this episode,
if you will!

Bonjour Terri. A pétanque game always provides a generous slice of French life to those who know how to observe (and listen.) Enjoy your time in Nice!

On n’oublie pas une “Fanny” j’en suis sûre ;-)
Love love this format…..French, English and then audio! AND the mystery of pétanque is a mystery no more….fun!!
Your writing is so vivid and colourful! Here we are in the deep cold of a Canadian winter (-33 C). 🇨🇦🥶
We thankfully have sun and blue blue skies but you made me yearn for the warmth of the south of France…..
Thank you very much for the kind words Joan. Very happy to hear you made the most of this new story!
Génial ce billet Véro! Et l'audio en plus, formidable idée!
Merci de ton retour enthousiaste Karina!
