Visiting a Marseille institution: "Maison Empereur," quartier de Noailles.
New virtual tour preview
Bonjour, c’est Véro
It’s nice to say “merci de votre soutien” (thank you for your support) once in a while and to let people know they are appreciated.
Today I want to say thank you to paid Substack subscribers who have been supporting my writing since 2024 and have joined the France with Vero community.
If you are a regular subscriber, I appreciate you too. Rest assured most of the content published here under “Lettres de France” or “Vignettes de France” (in Substack’s “Notes”) will remain free.
In fact while in Marseille last month I shared stories and short videos on the usual platforms including Substack. Remember this, this or this?
I also visited a Marseille institution located in the colorful Noailles neighborhood many locals (and visitors in the know) are familiar with, “Maison Empereur.” It’s a lot more than a store. The Renaux-Empereur family (the 7th and 8th generations now at the helm of the business) allowed me to film when photos and videos are officially prohibited. You’ll understand why when I take you inside.
Let’s face it: After following international news this week we can all use a break.

If you are a regular subscriber, thank you for your patience. The video will get released later this month on the France with Vero YouTube channel (where over 370 videos and virtual tours filmed around la Belle France await.)
