Bonjour, c’est Véro!
An experienced adult educator turned tour guide I wear many hats and can’t help learning and sharing my special finds on a variety of platforms including Substack.
Bienvenue. Here with “Lettres de France” you will read stories I don’t publish anywhere else.
Most are free.
The question is: If you already follow France with Vero on social media, learn from my virtual tours on YouTube, why wouldn’t you subscribe here?
Click the red button below to get full access to Lettres de France and publication archives. Cancel at any time.
You can also find me each week in the “Notes” section of Substack where I publish shorter stories, photos and observations about French life, “French vignettes.”

I’ve always been a teacher in spirit if not always in practice. I completed a M.A. in English with on focus on American Studies and intended to teach English in the French public school system.
La vie en a décidé autrement. Life had other plans for me - or did it?
When I relocated to the US in 1996 after a corporate career in France I decided to focus on adult education and ran a profitable French language teaching business in the Seattle area, sharing my love of France and the French language.
The France with Vero community was born 15 years ago in my suburban North-American kitchen. I love writing and after more than a decade State-side I missed my homeland: What better way to connect with francophiles around the world than through a blog (“French Girl in Seattle” at the time) and a Facebook community?
The community grew in leaps and bounds and interactions with the group became a favorite hobby of mine. How I loved sharing France with students, friends and neighbors at first and soon with thousands of virtual friends!
Fast forward to 2020 just a year after I relocated back to France permanently as a dual French-American citizen in a tiny studio under Parisian rooftops. We called it “the 7th Heaven.” In my 50s I was ready to start a new chapter in my homeland as a professional tour guide.
During the so-called “Covid years” many in the tourism industry had to be creative to survive. During the strict, first French lockdown (it lasted 55 days!) I launched France with Vero an online business offering exclusive content on France, French culture and the French language.
Online French conversation lessons (and as of October 2025 weeklong French Immersion workshops in the Loire Valley,) virtual tours on YouTube, publications on social media: I worked hard at becoming this community’s “Best French Friend in France” and successfully turned my favorite hobby into a business.
It’s 2025 now and the story continues: I take groups of North American travelers around the country part of the year and create stories about France for the France with Vero community the rest of the time.
They used to say a M.A. in English would only take me so far. I have proved many people wrong from the corporate world to my career as an entrepreneur.
Long story short: I teach, guide and write, including “Lettres de France” on Substack. I’ve always loved writing letters (remember snail mail?) C’est parfait. Substack is the perfect place for those who love writing, reading and connecting.
For a closer look at my services and current projects visit the France with Vero Mothership and Blog. Find me on social media (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube) and explore France with me.
Why is this community different? There are a lot of self-proclaimed France “experts” out there. I am a French native with a foot firmly planted in two very different cultures. That makes life more interesting and surprising.
I continue to learn a lot and am not afraid to question and debunk stereotypes about my homeland, always with flair and humor!
My publications are in English, a language I speak fluently. So even if you aren’t a francophone you can still join the fun and see la Belle France through my eyes.
A bientôt.
Véronique “Véro” Savoye
